rat-a-TAT

TAT – Turn around time, have you heard it before? Am sure you would have, i hear it every time from the operations guys when they call me for some calls that are going to bust their tat’s et all. Some times i can help them some times i can. There are now a days when its is not supposed to be my job role (so am told) but that is another story.

I ask though another question. Why is this TAT, and why does it grow shorter every time. Am sure someone did a six sigma or time and motion study or some other course in this field and came up with this. I ask did you ask the customer on that TAT. Did you also factor quality in it?. Your answer might surprise you.

I believe in the concept, “Do it right first time” , just no reworks pls, It takes time and generally am able to get that from my users because they and i understand quality work requires time and effort. So why are these TAT’s so small and why is not quality an integral part of it. Quality never comes without a price and it is a worthy price to pay, but never in the short run, because it is always a loss. Plus the customer demands quality, generally he does not expect speed. If you send the customer sometime a few hours or a day later, believe me i do not think he/she would have a problem. Regardless of the commodity/service, the very fact the customer will get quality will make him give in to you.

Somehow this is very apparent as common sense but as they say common sense is not that common.

Why? i might say? Simple, we want everything in the short run, because as Keynes said, “in the long run we are all dead”. All the economic curves are either flat or smooth curves and we are not there to see it.

i(s)pill-ed and wasted

2 years ago started an Ad campaign for a contraceptive called “ipill”. At those moments thought as a great coming to age ad. Ok the Ad sucked but still the message was delivered at a proper time of the year, remember that time of the year where a lot of things happen lol.

Any ways 2 years down the line, i hate everytime the ad comes up which is every few minutes on every freaking channel am surfing, and i do not watch so much TV now a days. Plus the ad sucks so back that you can vomit your own suck. How is that

Hasn’t someone told the damn company why the ad aint worth running. The ad never was good enuf and then trying to shove it down everyone’s that head and ass just aint happening and it is hard to believe that you cannot make good ad’s cuz Vodafone and airtel just made 2 of them and they are awesome.

Please do not hurt ur own sales because ur ad department cannot make more than half an ad. Re-Running it in my head a zillion time over does not make matters any good.

There is an MJ special going on channel Vh1. I have not paid attention to TV that much, i know it has been going on for some days now, Vh1 wants to bring in his birthday with some specials about him.

I was watching ‘beat it’ and remembered the amount of MJ clones in school, the dance competitions wherein every year there was some MJ song. For the last few years its been quiet with controversies about him more than reality, i guess that is the price you pay for being famous. I also tried a few of the dance steps but knew from the start i was headed for disaster if i tried them on stage lolzz

MJ actually launched quite a few careers in dance for some of my friends, one of them who i am not in touch but i know he is a big shot dance choreographer in bolly-wood. People who called him names can eat shit now knowing what he does.

#Work

It is good, but i am not feeling happy. I wish it was because of others but i guess it is because of me. Sometimes i feel i should have the free time that some of my colleagues have. Would i not have time to learn. But then i guess more time you get, more you do things other than your goals. So i guess am better off. I have a lot of work i know that. And in a very diff way i should be happy about that. In this recessionary times, less work generally scares you. I need to get more organized than i am right now.

Am starting to wonder, when do you know what is the existence of your living. When do you find what are u in this world for? this question is quiet open. Am i not looking for clues. Am i not reading the fine print. Is it there and i am not reading them.

#Books

Harry Potter – The deathly hallows has completely bowled me over. I know the book has been out some time back, quiet a while back. Am reading it now. I had an audio book which i did listen for quite some time. Now when i finished reading this book i felt i was in the story. I love when i get so involved in the story.

Crab-fest

My group of friends including me are perennial meat and fish eaters and every now and then we announce what we call crab fest.  Its like a secret call, a call comes on your phone, all it is said is today is crab fest or crabbies are here, that’s all. You are not given the choice you are to be there. Not that i ever uttered no for it. For the uninitiated its when a couple of folks volunteer to cook crabs for the whole junta which is savored by all of us like me in the Sahara finding and oasis.

The latest of this event occurred yesterday, i was sick ok, getting back to being healthy but since Thursday i had fever i thought i would abstain from eating crabs (means eating just one or maybe 2). Well went there quite late, rosh did not make, and that is a long story why.

Rules of Crab-Fest

Beer, Crabs make an awesome combination, Also the rule says you cannot at any time use any mechanical instrument other than your own teeth or some else’s teeth to break down the crab. It is against crab fest policy to break it down with an hammer.

A crab fang must be respected for it juiciness and meat and must and only must be broken down by your bare teeth. You could well ask someone to break it down for you but then if he takes a bite off the meat, sorry no complaints. Also you cannot waste any part of the crab, it must be eaten fully, not doing so could get you no more crabs in the future.

Oh it was an awesome sight, i was sick (mentioned again for empathy sake) but oh how i wish i could eat more, not that any thing would go waste, it simple did not. 

Garbage Free [Forwards]

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.  We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches!

The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. He was really friendly.

So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!"

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck".

He explained that, "Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets".

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so………

Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t.

Well its friday, yeah it comes every week but every week is special. After some hard ass work good to see the weekend. Might head to hard rock cafe tonight to get to the send off party of a colleague of mine whose going for further studies. Oh yeah if that does not happen may catch a movie. If not rest my ass and go to sleep early

its funny how people plan structures and then paint them in colors totally against the color scheme of the surroundings or nature. Or probably thats the idea.

Think all movies in the drama genre should be half of what they are now. By the time half the movie is over i am asleep. Oh btw the girl in the movie ‘adventureland’ is hot. Its a comedy drama. Need to watch transformers, hangove (again) and now harry porter 6.

Rains….and associated melodrama

Rains have been delayed, predictions and doomsday prophesies said and told.

Its been raining since last night and as predicted trains started going off since morning. Rains continued since morning nothing new. It rains every july and in the same fashion every year. There is nothing new about it.

Have you noticed that people not related to rains meaning, folks who are least affected by the rains are the first to react to rains. I do not know is it 26/7 aftershock or just useless mongering, but all hell has supposedly broken loose when in fact it did not.

Left for home since my workplace told us to go home early

Don’t change your Stance, no Don’t

We were at this thing and someone says, you should not change your stance, never ever budge, if you are right!.

Well truth is relative, so one man’s truth could be just another person’s lies. In the same way you could be right but then tomorrow or the day after you might be proved wrong, in that case wouldn’t you go ahead an change your stance. May be that is construed on being hypocritical and it does sound that way but is not the right thing to do.

You might be so sure that you are right. But there could be someone else who puts in a point that is either better than yours or plain truth (again relative). Sometimes you could be right but there might be another argument that is also the truth in which case you can give in, well this depends on your side

I say be like like the grass, move with the wind. Do not do as the crowd tells you to do, do what is right. Listen to your heart. You might be right, but if your heart tells you the other person or goal is better than yours back off.

Something tells me i totally messed up this post. I wanted to say something, I am not sure this is being conveyed correctly but what the heck.
